about us

seen through wotahus:
a beautiful life in small cycles

wotahus is an attempt to explore how we might
live in the years ahead by looking closely at
the connections between our daily lives and water, resources, and culture.

We attune ourselves to the nature and character of places across Japan,
looking closely at the knowledge, food, culture, and everyday practices unique to each.
Guided by creativity and technology, we will create places where local nature,
culture, and the water cycle can be experienced with all five senses.

Through the many experiences these places offer, we look again at the resources around us
and ask what a truly rich life means for each of us. This is what we mean by
“a beautiful life in small cycles”—a way of living in which resources circulate
gently on a small scale. It is the circular life that wotahus envisions.

Just as the oceans connect the world, water connects our lives.

WOTA is a company committed to solving water challenges at a structural level. It develops small-scale decentralized water recycling systems that treat and recycle used water on-site, expanding water-use options to suit different places and purposes, including during disaster-related water outages and in areas that are difficult to serve with water and sewer networks. wotahus connects this technology with the character of each place, its architecture, and the lives of its people, taking water as a starting point for exploring rich ways of living.
